Overview And Experience
Senior Counsel Kusum Shrestha was born in Bandipur, Tanahu, and received his LLB from the city of Kolkata in India. He founded the Supreme Court Bar Association as well as the Nepal Law Society. He was the first president of the Supreme Court Bar and the chairman of the Nepal Law Society. He was instrumental in obtaining a grant from the Norwegian Bar Association for the building of the Nepal Bar Association.
Numerous legal-related books and articles bear his name. During the Panchayat regime, Sr. Attorney Kusum Shrestha, as a lawyer, argued in favor of the then-democratic leaders, including BP Koirala. As an avid reader of literature, strategic books, novels, and short stories, John Milton greatly influenced him. Playing an important role in the modernization of the Nepalese judicial system, he also fought all the important political cases of the late BP Koirala, Ganesh Man Singh, K.I. Singh, and Bhim Narayan Shrestha’s case against the imposition of the death penalty.

Mr. Shrestha, a senior advocate and constitutional lawyer, was also instrumental in exposing Nepal’s legal system to the international community and mentoring numerous young lawyers.
